General Tow Truck
Service & Repair In Southern California
Complete tow truck service for both sides of the truck — base vehicle and tow body equipment. Engine, transmission, brakes, hydraulic system, electrical, and chassis all serviced in-house at our Pomona shop. Serving towing companies and owner-operators across LA, San Bernardino, Orange & Riverside Counties.
General Tow Truck Service — Both Sides Of The Truck, One Shop Visit
A tow truck is two vehicles in one. There's the base vehicle — the chassis, engine, transmission, brakes, and drivetrain — and there's the tow body equipment — the hydraulic system, PTO, controls, winch, and all the mechanical systems that make the truck do its job. Both sides need regular service. Most shops only service one of them. When a tow truck operator takes their rig to a standard truck shop, the hydraulic system, PTO, and body equipment don't get touched. When they take it to a body specialist, the base vehicle doesn't get serviced. The result is a truck that's partially maintained at best.
At Quik Tow Repair we service both sides of the truck in one visit. Gio's confirmed service list includes general tow truck service specifically because tow trucks need a shop that understands the whole machine — not just one half of it. Our general service covers the full truck: engine fluids, transmission, brakes, cooling system, chassis lubrication, and a full inspection of the base vehicle side — plus hydraulic fluid and filter, PTO inspection, controls check, lighting and strobe verification, and a complete visual of the body equipment. In compliance with FMCSA commercial vehicle inspection and maintenance regulations, we document every service item and flag anything that needs attention.
General service visits also catch developing problems before they become breakdowns on a job. A tow truck that's regularly serviced at a shop that knows the whole machine stays on the road longer and costs less to maintain than one that's serviced piecemeal across multiple shops — or not serviced at the right intervals at all.

What General Tow Truck Service Covers
Every service item listed below is performed in-house at our Pomona shop during a general service visit. Both sides of the truck — base vehicle and body equipment.
01🛢 Engine & Drivetrain Service
Oil and filter change, transmission fluid check and service, differential fluid inspection, transfer case fluid where applicable, and all drivetrain fluid levels verified and topped. We use fluids that meet or exceed manufacturer specifications for commercial truck applications.
- › Engine oil and filter replacement
- › Transmission fluid condition and service
- › Differential and axle fluid service
- › All fluid levels checked and topped
- › Drive belt and hose inspection
02🛑 Brake Inspection & Service
Brake inspection on all axles — lining thickness, rotor/drum condition, slack adjuster function, brake chamber condition, and parking brake verification. We flag any brake components outside of DOT service limits and provide a separate estimate for brake repair before the truck goes back to work.
- › Full brake system inspection all axles
- › Lining thickness measurement
- › Rotor and drum condition assessment
- › Slack adjuster and chamber check
- › DOT brake standard compliance verification
03🔧 Chassis & Suspension Lubrication
Grease all chassis lubrication points — steering linkage, U-joints, kingpins, fifth wheel, and all suspension pivot points. Inspect for worn or failed components flagged during lubrication. Chassis lubrication is one of the most commonly skipped maintenance items and one of the fastest ways to wear out steering and suspension components prematurely.
- › All chassis grease points lubricated
- › Steering linkage and kingpin inspection
- › U-joint condition check
- › Fifth wheel plate and jaw inspection
- › Suspension component visual inspection
04💧 Hydraulic System Service
Hydraulic fluid condition and level, hydraulic filter replacement, reservoir inspection, external line and fitting inspection, and a function test of all hydraulic equipment. If the fluid shows contamination, heat damage, or is overdue — we flag it and recommend a full flush. PTO engagement and pump function verified.
- › Hydraulic fluid condition and level check
- › Hydraulic filter replacement
- › External line and fitting inspection
- › PTO engagement and pump function test
- › All hydraulic functions cycled and verified
05⚡ Electrical & Lighting Check
Battery condition and terminal check, charging system output test, all lighting circuits verified (running lights, brake lights, turn signals, clearance lights), strobe system function test, and controls panel inspection. DOT lighting compliance confirmed during every service.
- › Battery load test and terminal condition
- › Charging system output verification
- › All DOT lighting circuits tested
- › Strobe system full function check
- › Controls panel inspection and test
06📋 Full Visual Inspection & Report
A complete visual inspection of the frame, body mounts, boom or bed structure, visible hydraulic components, tire condition, and all accessible components — with a written service report covering everything inspected, everything serviced, and anything flagged for follow-up. You leave with documentation of the full service.
- › Frame and body mount visual inspection
- › Boom/bed structural visual check
- › Tire condition and pressure check
- › Complete written service report
- › Flagged items with separate estimate options
Why SoCal Operators Choose Quik Tow Repair For General Service
Both Sides Of The Truck
We service the base vehicle AND the tow body equipment in one visit. No splitting your truck between two shops for a complete service.
Hydraulic System Included
Hydraulic fluid and filter service, PTO check, and function test are part of every general service visit. Not an add-on — included.
DOT Documentation
Every service visit produces a written service report documenting all items serviced and inspected. Accepted for DOT pre-inspection documentation and fleet maintenance records.
Catch Problems Early
A general service at a shop that knows the whole truck catches developing problems before they become breakdowns. We flag and estimate — we don't do additional work without your approval.
Tow Truck Specific
We work exclusively on tow trucks. We know what to look for on every truck type and body configuration — and we know what normal wear looks like vs. what needs attention.
Fleet Service Programs
Fleet operators get scheduled service across the fleet, per-truck service history, DOT pre-inspection service, and priority scheduling. We call when service is due.
How General Tow Truck Service Works At Our Shop
From scheduling to driving out with a fully documented service — here is what to expect.
Call 888-628-4008 or submit our form. Tell us your truck type and approximate mileage. We schedule a service appointment — usually within a few days for standard service, same week for fleet accounts.
We service both sides of the truck systematically — base vehicle fluids and systems first, then tow body equipment. Any items identified during service that need additional attention are flagged before any extra work is done.
If we find anything during service that needs repair or further attention, we present a written estimate before touching it. Nothing additional gets done without your approval.
You receive a complete written service report covering every item serviced, inspected, and flagged. DOT-ready documentation included. Truck ready for pickup same day in most cases.

What SoCal Operators Say About Our General Service
"Finally found a shop that services the whole truck. Other places do the oil change and send you home — hydraulic system never gets touched. Quik Tow does everything in one visit — engine, brakes, hydraulic fluid and filter, lights, controls check — and gives me a written report I can use for DOT documentation. This is what truck service is supposed to look like."
"During a routine service Quik Tow caught a hydraulic line that was chafing against the frame and would have failed within a few thousand miles. Fixed it during the service visit. That's a breakdown on a job avoided — probably a tow charge and half a day of downtime avoided too. The inspection that comes with the service pays for itself."
"We run 6 trucks and Quik Tow manages service for all of them. They keep the service history on every truck, call us when service is due, and DOT pre-inspection service is part of the program. Haven't had a DOT inspection failure on any truck since we started with them. That's the value of having one shop that knows every truck."
